London Auto Locksmith

What are Skeleton Keys?

We get our name from the keys used by burglars right up until the industrial revolution when locks became more complex and secure.

Before this the most common locks were "warded" locks which simply relied on an aperture inside the lock cut to the same shape as the key.

The naughty skeleton key was ground down on either side until it was very skinny, allowing it to pass through the vast majority of these wards and hence "open any lock!"

No, they don't work today, sorry.
